About Us

The New England Fishermen’s Foundation is a collaboration between fishermen, scientists, and members of our communities for sustaining fisheries, preserving heritage, and continuing to build and add value to the local customs & traditions of coastal New England.

Real People. Real Impact.

The New England Fishermen’s Foundation is made up of the very people you see along the docks, hauling gear, repairing boats, and heading out before sunrise. We’re fishermen, families, and neighbors who have lived with the ocean for generations, and we know firsthand how deeply tied our lives are to the water.

For us, this work isn’t just about today’s catch or this season’s harvest. It’s about keeping alive a way of life that has been passed down for hundreds of years. It’s about making sure our children, and their children, have the same chance to know what it feels like to stand on the deck of a boat, to breathe the salt air, and to bring home fish or lobster from waters that are still thriving.

When we say we’re working for the future, we mean the real kids playing on the piers today. We mean the families that gather around the kitchen table to share a meal from the sea. We mean the next generation of boat captains, deckhands, and community leaders who will inherit not only this work, but also the responsibility of caring for the waters that sustain us all.

Everything we do at the Foundation comes back to this. We’re here to support the men and women who make their living on the water, to protect the health of our oceans, and to carry forward the stories, skills, and traditions that make New England’s fisheries unique.

This isn’t a mission that belongs only to us—it belongs to everyone who cares about the future of our communities and our coastlines. Because at the end of the day, what we’re fighting for is simple: a future where the next generation can look out at the ocean with the same sense of pride, possibility, and belonging that we do today.
